Re: Have you ever gone outside to see a plane you were track

That sounds like fun, you are in a good location for planespotting. I have been getting better at recognizing the various carriers in my region, and last weekend I had TWO planes being plotted and tracked at the same time that were visible from my back door, which was rather exciting.

Re: Have you ever gone outside to see a plane you were track

Hey thanks guys. Cix, what are your settings in RTL1090? I tried it with a stock configuration and I'm still not getting signal strength.

Thanks for the explanation Andrew, that makes sense. Sounds like you're in a great to watch the planes!

That would be pretty cool to be able to see more of them in real life!

Have you ever gone outside to see a plane you were tracking?

I was looking at my VRC console today, and one of the planes being tracked was one of the Gulfstreams owned by Nike. Fortunately, it provided ADS-B location, so I was able to plot it as well, and it was within a mile of being over my house at 32k feet. Wondering if I would be able to see it, I went ...

Re: [STICKY] Receiver Range Plots

Aha, thanks; I didn't specify the receiver location under "Receivers".

Re: [STICKY] Receiver Range Plots

The plots can be displayed via the MENU button on the web site. If there is at least one receiver for which VRS is calculating ranges then you should get a "Receiver Range" option. Under that you can select which receivers and which plots you want to show or hide. Where is the option supposed to be...

Re: Some planes don't get plotted

Hi Gary, yeah I saw a Singapore Shipping plane the other night being plotted, as well as the planes from Hawaii, and UPS/FedEx. I have also had a few mil craft show up, a tanker and a couple troop transports, but like you said they don't broadcast their position.

Re: Some planes don't get plotted

Well this is just funny, the only plane that is being plotted is a single engine Vans RV-12 (kit airplane), going on a zig-zagging pleasure trip around my local area at about 3000 feet. Meanwhile, none of the major carriers I am tracking (Horizon, Alaska, Virgin America, Southwest) have location bea...

Re: Using ADLite with VRS

I don't get any of the pictures in VRS if that's what you're looking to do, just silhouettes and flags (I copied all of the flags from the four flag directories into one "master" flag directory).
