Re: Anyone any ideas what this airspace is ?

That would explain why they were centred on areas like Silverstone.

What's Open AIS? Google isn't shedding much light on it, I can see there are resources there for maritime maps but not the aviation ones you seem to be showing.

Re: Database Writer "updates" some existing records when option is disabled

The RTC thing was a long shot :) It wouldn't have explained the incorrect updates, the clock doesn't get involved in the decision as to whether an aircraft gets updated or not (unless you have updates turned on, which you don't). A big leap in the real world clock could cause some temporary weird ef...

Re: Database Writer "updates" some existing records when option is disabled

The updates happen regardless of whether anyone is looking at the web site.

The Pi doesn't have a real-time clock. Has the clock been set before you start VRS? Are you running VRS as part of a start-up script or will it exhibit the same behaviour well after the time has been established?

Just to double-check - you're running version 2.4.2 of VRS?

Re: Database Writer "updates" some existing records when option is disabled

Also, if you do have genuine updates rather than new records, when you search for the aircraft by registration do you get multiple copies back where the ModeS field differs between them by case? E.G. one is "ABC123" and the other is "abc123"? BaseStation.sqb's schema has case sensitive collation swi...

Re: Database Writer "updates" some existing records when option is disabled

I've had a look at the code and tried to reproduce it following your steps but so far I can't see anything in the code (or at least the bits of code involved with this) that would try to use an object before it's been initialised from settings, nor anything that would accidentally update an existing...

Re: A few suggestions re callsign flagging.

The first is doable now if you know (or don't mind learning) a bit of SQL - you could use a SQLite editor to set the IsInteresting flag for all aircraft matching whatever operator you're interested in. The second isn't doable and doesn't fit in with the existing scheme whereby the "is interesting" f...

Re: Mode 3A Squawk Handling

I can decode mode A. However, it is impossible to tell the difference between mode A and mode C without knowing which one the ground station requested (which we don't know) so you can't reliably use them.

Re: All position reports in reports and heatmaps

The database schema comes from Kinetic's BaseStation program. The database writer plugin sticks to the schema as closely as it can so that it will work with other third party applications. However, I have plans for a separate database that won't require a plugin for version 3 - that database will ha...
