Re: help with ssl (secure)

The port number has nothing to do with SSL, the distinction is that SSL addresses have https:// at the start and non-SSL addresses start with http://. If you want to access VRS without specifying the port number then have VRS listen on the default HTTP port, which is port 80. I intend to add SSL sup...

Re: SQlite searching

There is no paid version. There are reports that you can run against your BaseStation.sqb, to search for all flights for a registration do Menu | Reports | Free-form report and enter the registration you're interested in in the criteria... or if the aircraft you're interested in is currently selecte...

Re: Dropping Google Maps

Yes, I got those emails as well. The problem with Google Maps is that come June 11th they want a credit card to use them and you need an API key for all access, not just public access. I think it's the parting of the ways for Google Maps and VRS. I've been looking at OSM, the API side doesn't look t...

Re: Routes all wrong

There's a menu entry under Tools somewhere that tells you the date and time of the last standing data file that the program has downloaded. If you're in Australia or New Zealand then you will have more than your fair share of incorrect routes. Australia and New Zealand assign two letter codes to nat...

Re: Aircraft Info Window on Desktop Site

I'm not at home so I can't test it but I think if you install the custom content plugin and add a script that appends this to the END of HEAD for desktop.html: <script src="script/jquiplugin/jquery.vrs.aircraftInfoWindow.js" type="text/javascript"></script> Then I think it'll just get picked up and ...

Re: Updating aircraft data

If they're new registrations then I generally only refresh my local copy of the Planebase data about once a month. I would hold fire for a bit before getting too worried about those. Otherwise you can try submitting the updates to Planebase. However, my understanding is that at the moment they're on...

Re: Cannot find a router on the network that supports UPnP

UPnP is used to open up ports on the router so that you can view the site from the Internet. It is not usually necessary to do this to feed other sites, generally nowadays they will ask you to push your feed to an address and port on their site. Pushing a feed does not need any open ports on your si...

Re: Overriding Standing Database

The species etc. all come from your local BaseStation.sqb file - if you want to show different details for an aircraft than those offered by the aircraft lookup then just set them in there (and tick the flag to say that you don't want updates applied to BaseStation.sqb). Having a more comprehensive ...
