an existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host

Are you having trouble getting Virtual Radar Server installed and running? If so then this is the place to ask about it.

an existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host

Post by hermite » Fri Dec 02, 2016 9:09 pm

Hello,

I re-imaged my Windows 10 PC, and since then I cannot connect to my VRS Web host on remote Port#80. I also reset my modem to it's defaults settings, flushed out all DNS, reassign my IP but I still receive this message:
"an existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host"

Any clue?

Tks.

It's saying that it tried to connect to (presumably) port 80 but the host closed the connection as soon as you tried to open it. The most likely causes are that either nothing was listening on port 80 or port 80 isn't open in the firewall.

When you installed VRS on your reimaged machine did you tick the box asking whether you wanted to add a rule to the Windows firewall to let other machines connect to VRS? The option is not ticked by default. If you re-run the installer and tick that box then it'll add the rule for you (you don't need to uninstall first).

Firewall private entry is confirmed on port 80. Using VRS 64bit.

Ah OK - it looks like you've configured a receiver to connect to port 80 on a remote machine. It's unlikely that the remote machine has a rebroadcast server or a feed that is listening to port 80. Port 80 is the default HTTP (i.e. world wide web) port, by default rebroadcast servers will be in the 33000+ range, BaseStation would be 30003 and so on. You need to find out what port the feed is being exposed on and enter that in the receiver's settings.
