Fatal Error Setting location of Receiver

Postby paradiselost » Thu Nov 26, 2015 1:15 pm

The preview version exhibits a fatal error when setting the Google map to Satellite and zooming in to set the location of a receiver.

This is the error message: https://maps.googleapis.com/maps-api-v3 ... 1/onion.js

The error disables the ability to continue running scripts and locks up the VRS options requiring the use of the task manager to kill the offending pages and the instance of VRS.

Google dropped support for IE8 with the latest version of Google Maps. I suspect that the embedded web browser on Windows 7 could be IE8.

I'll take that map out. It was nice to have it but it doesn't work on Mono, it's going to crash if the user has IE8 and like you say, if you get a JavaScript error in the embedded browser it all goes pear shaped, the embedded browser doesn't return control to the program and you have to kill the process.

Downloaded latest server and plugins. Using latest version of Chrome. Win7. Same script error when trying to fine tune location.

The server version is 2.2.037164.

The maps terms say 2012 last update.

Since I have always used Chrome or Firefox have never updated IE to version 8 but all the other updates are current.

One nagging legacy problem is when target appears in the window the type map does not appear until clicking near the target or zooming in or out.

WorkAround Re: Fatal Error Setting location of Receiver

If anyone needs to tweak a receivers location without locking up VRS there is a way.

If the receivers location was set before the upgrade, you would never experience this problem until you try to change the latitude or longitude using the map or manually changing the coordinates.

The workaround involves disabling that receiver then clicking on the respective receiver location and changing EITHER latitude or longitude but not both and clicking OK which will write it to the configuration.xml. If you need to change Either of the remaining settings but not both do it and click OK.

Check the settings you have changed by clicking on the respective location to verify they are what you set them at and then Enabling that receiver again.

Perhaps by describing the workaround Andrew can determine what needs to be changed so the map works without freezing VRS up.
