64-bit build of VRS

Postby agw » Sat Feb 13, 2016 8:44 pm

This is exactly the same as the 32-bit build of VRS except:

1. It can't talk to Flight Simulator X. The SimConnect DLL is 32-bit only.

2. It can address more than 2GB of RAM.

If you have hundreds of feeds, lots of RAM and VRS keeps running out of memory then use the 64-bit version, otherwise carry on using the 32-bit version.

The plugins have been rebuilt so that they're no longer flagged as 32-bit only. They will now load under either the 32-bit or 64-bit version of VRS without change, the same plugin installer will work with both versions. However, because the installer is 32-bit it will always offer up a default installation folder of C:\Program Files (x86)\VirtualRadar. If you're installing the plugin for a 64-bit installation of VRS then you'll need to change the path by hand to C:\Program Files\VirtualRadar.

I think I'm the only one who _might_ need this, and even then, I'm not sure.... ;)

As it turns out, i am finding the 64-bit version quite a bit more stable. Its working out very well!
