Aircraft missing from map in VRS, but not dump1090

Postby roadfun » Tue Apr 04, 2017 9:17 pm

In VRS these two planes (E3 and T-38) are not shown on the map.

However in dump1090 both planes are shown on the map. VRS is being fed by this dump1090 running on a Pi 3 so I don't get why there is a difference. Note that the E3 was displayed on the VRS map for awhile, then disappeared (though remaining in the list). It did not disappear from the dump1090 map.

Is this something I can fix? I've seen it happen quite a bit. Thanks!

I think the thing to note in the second screenshot is the "SOURCE: MLAT" bit. I'm guessing that dump1090 isn't passing on MLAT positions in its feed to VRS? I don't use dump1090 so I can't say for sure but it's not unheard of, Planefinder doesn't pass on MLAT positions.
