Is Virtual Radar Server not behaving itself? If so then please report it here.

OK. I've read the manual and I know that I'm somewhat wrong with my previous bug report. ;)
But in my opinion it still makes a lot of sense to separate:
- initial position of the map (not always centered on the receiver)
- receiver(s) position (it makes some sense to show it/them on the map)

I did think about showing receiver positions on the map but I decided against it - if someone entered their precise receiver location into the configuration and put the site up onto the Internet then it would publicise their address.

But yes, as I think you've worked out already the distances are calculated from the browser's current location, as set in the site's options, rather than the receiver location. If you don't change the default starting location then it's set to just west of London, which could be a long way out :)
