VRS Feed Status-Aircraft Tracked Wrong

Post by paradiselost » Thu Jan 22, 2015 1:04 am

I have several receivers and the number of Aircraft Tracked is always different from the web page list.

Also when the power is switched off a receiver and you get the disconnected message, the aircraft tracked number does not reset to zero.

When the power is restored to the receiver with the total messages incrementing it doesn't affect the total aircraft tracked.

Yes, it's a bit misleading. The server is reporting how many aircraft it is keeping track of, which is usually more than the number of aircraft that are being displayed. Aircraft are taken off the display a minute or so after the last message is received from them but the server keeps them in the list of tracked aircraft for about ten minutes so that you don't lose the track if they should come back into range. You can configure both of those timeouts in the general page in Tools | Options. If you set them both to the same value then you should see that the aircraft on display and aircraft tracked counts will eventually become roughly the same value.

The aircraft list is maintained independently of the receiver, it doesn't get wiped if the receiver goes offline. If it were to do that then temporary disconnections would keep wiping the aircraft list.
