High CPU usage

Version 2.2/Windows 10 laptop

I noticed in Chrome that CPU usage by the browser was creeping up and up. It would begin at 15-20 percent on my laptop and eventually over the next few hrs or a day or two the usage would be 50-60 percent, making the computer sluggish and nearly unusable.

I switched to Edge thinking an update in Chrome might be the culprit, but same thing, with only the VRS display running in Edge, the CPU usage of Edge would creep up toward 60 percent before I had to close it and reopen, and again it would start at 15-20 percent and slowly climb to an unreasonable rate.

Is there a setting in VRS that could reduce this high CPU usage? I didn't notice this in the prior version 2.1 so I suspect something in 2.2 is causing this problem.

I don't recollect doing anything much with the site for version 2.2, although it's possible that something's in there that's causing the problem. I have Chrome open all day on my instance of VRS without issue, but then I tend to shut this machine down every night.

If you press Ctrl+Esc in Chrome it tells you the CPU and memory usage for each tab. Is the memory usage excessive when the CPU usage is high?

I opened Chrome and let it run overnight, minimized, with only the VRS map tab open, nothing else. This was last night around 10 p.m., it is now 5:40 a.m. so almost 8 hrs

Chrome is almost completely unresponsive and it's using quite a bit of memory. There are several processes open and two of them are hogging CPU and memory usage isn't any better for one tab.

When switching from this tab (VRS forum) to the VRS map it takes about 30 seconds for the page to update and show moving planes, in the mean time it sits there with a view of the last time the tab was up front.

Here is a screen shot of process explorer. I could provide other views if needed. ... S.png?dl=0

If you do Shift+Esc from within Chrome (not Ctrl+Esc like I said before, I got it wrong) then it shows you Chrome's task manager, which breaks down CPU and memory usage for each tab. However I imagine the 600+MB one in your screenshot is VRS. I'll see if I can reproduce it. I have a vague recollection that the site leaked under Chrome when I first did v2, it seemed to hold on to the aircraft list JSON if you copied any of the values out of it. From what I remember at the time Firefox was better behaved in that it didn't leak, but it was slower.
