More options in Date Report

Hello

Could it be possible to add the ''altitude'' criteria in the ''date report'' option? I live near an airport and i wish i could know which aircraft has landed (or has taken off) on it. For now the only way to check that is to take each aircraft to see the recorded altitude...

Thanks a lot for your answer :)

Yes - the reports will be getting a makeover in the next big release when the web site output gets re-written.

It's going to be a while yet, but hopefully by the end of the summer. Depends on how much free time I get :)

In the date report, could it be possible in the ''callsign'' field to use an option I have found in ''SQL Lite manager'':

"=" or "contains" or "begins with" ?

With the current system you have to type the entire callsign to have a positive result, if you miss a letter or a number it returns a 0 result. With "contains" or "begins with" it's very easy to find a group of flights for example. As i said it's already possible in SQL lite but only flight data is shown, nothing about the aircraft except the database number...

What do you think about it? Would it be difficult to add?

Best regards

I'm currently rewriting the website that VRS generates - I've not done the rewrite of the reports yet but in other places where there are filters / criteria on the aircraft list I've been using a more flexible approach to specifying the criteria where you can tell it the condition to use. The intention is to do the same with the reports.

However with the reports there is a potential problem to be aware of in that if you were to do the "callsign contains XYZ" thing then SQLite can end up having to go through every record to see if it has a match, which would mean that on a reasonably large database it's going to be slow and it's going to hammer the disk. With equals or begins-with SQLite can use the indexes so it's pretty quick.
