Optional authentication

The "to-do" list for Virtual Radar Server is as long as my arm, but if you want to pile more work onto it then this is for you.

Optional authentication

Post by ProHill » Thu Sep 17, 2015 11:12 pm

Andrew,

To go along with the new database editor preview, have you considered making it possible to optionally authenticate? Right now it appears it is either on or off globally. The use case I'm thinking of is that I want the site to be public to unauthenticated users, but I also want to restrict some things like the database editor to administrators. The IP restrictions are good, but in cases where VRS is behind a reverse proxy, they don't help.

Thanks!

Andy

It already is optional :)

You do not need to turn on authentication for the web site, you just need to flag up the users that are administrators. When you're not logged in and you click on the link to the Database Editor it'll ask you to log in with an administrator's credentials.
