Post by bigrossco » Sat Sep 27, 2014 4:42 pm

i notice VRS on the PI defaults to 8080 for the port however, RTL also uses this port on linux so cant use it

Any idea / help how to change this on the PI

Hi

Sorry for not replying sooner.

The 8080 port on the Pi is for the internal dump1090 web server. The actual outputs are 30002, 30003 and 30005 depending on what you enable in the command line start up. You can still use port 8080 on VRS unless you are running it on the Pi itself. All you can do is either switch off the web server at command line or change the port that VRS uses to something else, I use 8989.

I have just had a quick look at the commands. Try "--net-http-port 8989" This should put the dump1090 web server on port 8989.

Hope this helps

Hi

Glad you got it fixed. I am not sure that the Pi is really powerful enough for both dump1090 and VRS. I did flirt with the idea but as I am in a heavy traffic area I stuck with the Windows version. The linux version does work well on bigger units, I wonder if you had a second Pi dedicated for VRS only would work better?

I know many people have tried this and I will defer to the greater knowledge...

Good luck with your trials.

Thanks hoping very much to get it to work, as I have dump1090 and FR24 feed working as well as no-ip looking at my PI now so only thing missing is getting VRS running on it

There's a problem with mono on the Pi which causes it to crash when running applications that use text boxes:

It's been a while since I looked at the bug report, the latest news seems mixed. If it really is fixed then I guess the thing to do is hold tight and wait for it to make it into the distribution packages.

Guys I need your help , as soon as possible !

I bought a raspberry pi 3 in order to set it up into another location and then to rebroadcast and merge it. That was my FIRST idea on the project. And here the problems start..

I am running raspbian and I succesfully installed all the drivers and dump1090. I also downloaded VRS and VRS Web Admin Plugin.

BUT , I open dump1090 (and it works) , then I try to open VRS and it gives me an error message Cannot start the web server on port 8080 . I tried EVERYTHING till now and still no result. In this way i cannot even run the VRS in local network so I am not able to see anything through VRS.

I also tried "./dump1090 --net-http-port 8989" and then changed the VRS receiver port to 30005 , but still got the same issue. After that receiver seems to be connected and receiving few messages , but when i try to click on local address link http://127.0.0.1:8080/VirtualRadar the browser opens and give the error message : ""ERROR OPENING HTML FILE: NO SUCH FILE OR DIRECTORY"".

I am almost sure that I do some kind of mistake in port changes. Please tell me what ports I need to put as HTTP port in dump1090 and which port I need to put into receiver of VRS.

I don't know what else to do.

Thanks in advance

UPDATE: FINNALY GOT IT FIXED BECAUSE I CHANGED PORT TO VRS FROM 8080 TO 8081 USING A FILE I FOUND IN THE INTERNET OR CHANGING CONFIGURATION.XML

NOW I FACE ANOTHER PROBLEM BASED ON REBROADCASTING LOOK THERE: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1431

I am stumped. Trying to get VRS working on my RPi. Having PORT issues, as well as issues with opening the GUI on the RPi itself. Thoughts?
