ADSB Antenna

Post by jonfear » Wed Oct 29, 2014 10:00 pm

This might be of interest to everyone.

This antenna: ... EBIDX%3AIT

Has now been installed in Sicily by Sergio who now feeds VRS World. It is installed at a fairly low level at present and is due to be installed 7m up shortly. If you look at the range, this is just the antenna, a 10m satellite cable feed to a Cosycave dongle. Where Sergio has a clear horizon, he can see high level to Rome! Whilst this is not the Chinese antenna we are all hoping for, it may improve the range for some of you at a cheap price.

Now a carrot...I have just bought another of these. I am looking to place this somewhere else in Europe. I would ideally like to see it go into Central France, Spain, Portugal and then the Balkans in that preference order. If you know anyone in those countries who could feed VRS world, get them to contact me the the info(at) address and I will see if we can work something out. I will not charge for the antenna, down-lead or shipping. They will have to provide the dongle or similar as well as the PC for VRS etc.

Best wishes

Jon, the new name for MLAT Radar in the UK and Western Europe.

Former PP feeder Bm. No longer feeding. I do not have time to sort out imaginary problems with NTP
when it has been working fine for 2+ Years.

I came across those antennas a few days ago and have been wondering about their performance - the claimed 2.3 dBd gain sounds reasonable. The same seller is also offering a matched dipole (with balun) and a 5/8 wave gp with a claimed gain of 3 dBd, for £15.99 with SMS connector or £16.99 with N-type connector. All very reasonable prices and I'm tempted to get one to try out and compare against my own homebrew dipoles and 1/4 wave gp, however I've just successfully bid on one this:, which I'm looking forward to testing when it arrives.
