How options/preset settings/website/initial settings works?

Post by paradiselost » Sat Dec 27, 2014 11:30 pm

Could someone explain how options/preset settings/website/initial settings works?

If one clicks on the desktop link, the desktop opens using default settings. Once configured, what now? There seems like no way to save. How do these settings affect the version loaded by the internet viewer?

What is the function of the clipboard in all of this.

The settings link is un-explained also.

Once configured go to [yourIP]/VirtualRadar/settings.html and click "export settings".
Copy the text and paste it in "Initial settings" option page.

There is help on that options screen, but you have to click on the "Exported settings" field to see it. But yes, basically what andrew said - configure the site to be how you want it to look for desktop and mobile users (and report users, if you're exposing the report pages) using the normal options screens on the desktop and mobile pages. Then once you're happy with how it looks go to the settings page, click the export button, copy the text from there into the clipboard and paste it into the exported settings field in VRS.

The reason why there are buttons on that screen to copy the text to and from the clipboard is because .NET doesn't support the Ctrl+A Select All keyboard shortcut for multi-line text fields. I could write code to add Ctrl+A support, but it wouldn't do the right thing on Mono under OSX, so I didn't bother. I just added the links to copy to and from the clipboard instead.

The instructions worked great. One thing internet viewers need to do if they have attempted to view your site before is empty their browser cache and then reload the page. The old version won't go away until they do.

Hello,

What I want to know is how you've managed to capture the range map (the jagged area covered) on you website. Is this something that can only be activated depending upon your receiver? Also how high up is your antenna? I'm just starting up and using a simple USB DVB-T dongle at the moment and a mag mount antenna - currently getting about 30-40 statute miles.

Thanks

Simon

The range plots are saved periodically on your VRS version 2.1 for each receiver and do not reset until on the VRS main page Receiver Status area and the receiver name is right clicked and Receiver Range Plot Reset is clicked.

Under the previous version each time the server was restarted the range plots from previous sessions disappeared.
