Thanks for the work Dom. Quick question as I’m new to this stuff - since you posted the source code I presume I’m ok to modify the file/learn some stuff as long as I don’t distribute it, correct?

Yep feel free to modify it, just don't redistribute it as something you made. If you want to fix bugs or work on the project you can fork the github repo and I'll add your changes to the main project.

Ok great. I know just enough to maybe not blow stuff up at this point, all I’ve done is change the key to my own and update the google maps URL to com from com.au. Programs so good as is I wouldn’t know what to change anyway heh

Are you planning to add support for twitter developer accounts?
I'd rather use a bot to post to twitter instead of my own account/user.

Hey Dom, been digging around the code for this program a bit more and wanted to check if something’s possible before I attempt it. Would adding a Bearing Greater Than and Less Than be feasible? I’d like to set an alert for low military planes by my office but I’d need to section off a piece of sky to do this. It’d be easy to do distance less than 20 and bearing greater than 110 and bearing less than 230 for instance. Just thought I’d ask.

Should be possible to add bearing, I've added it to the todo list for the next update. loplo I'm not sure what you mean, if you don't want to use your own account you can create a new one and use that.

With a twitter dev account you can set up bots, you don't need extra twitter accounts for each of your bots.
It works at the API level, and not with user/pass.

New update, I've added bearing to the properties, fixed a few crashes related to downloading aircraftlist.json and publishing tweets and fixed a crash caused by the alerts.log file not being accessable.

Also loplo I'm still not really sure what you mean, at the moment I have a dev account with an app for planealerter so that the program can access the twitter API.

Sorry, English is not my mother tongue.
With a dev account you can have multiple sub accounts, and post using those. You don't have to create an account for each of your bots.

I'm using the abovetustin script to tweet regarding planes that are passing my area. You could check out that git, you might understand better what I mean with the "dev account".
